Business is a fun ride, it really is.

It can also be overwhelming, scary and fearsome.

And when you’re not reaching your business goals, it becomes frustrating!

I know this because I see it on the daily, business owners trying to keep it together on the outside, but on the inside they’re paddling hard to stay afloat and wondering:

“What’s wrong with me”

“What needs to change”

“I wish it were easier”

Don’t worry if you’ve said these thoughts, it can be better because at the end of the day there really are only TWO things that ever need to change.

Change #1: Your Strategy

Let’s start here, if you think you don’t have a strategy and you’re just “winging it”, you still have a strategy.

Not having a strategy is still a strategy!

And you if have a solid, documented strategy and you’re still not reaching your business goals, it’s time to assess and review your strategy.

The best advice I can give to review your strategy is to ask and answer some of the following questions:

  • Where did I get this strategy?

  • What’s working with this strategy?

  • What’s not working with this strategy?

  • Does this strategy suit my business model?

  • When this strategy has worked, what has contributed to that?

  • What needs to change with this strategy?

  • Do I need to speak to someone to get a better and faster way towards my business goals?

Change #2: Y-O-U

Don’t take it personal that you could be the reason you’re not reaching your business goals, we want to look at what’s not working and look at them very black and white so we can then make movements and improvements.

When I see business owners struggling to reach their business goals aside from the strategy, it does come back to them as an individual, but more specifically I find it’s either a mindset or behavioural issue.

Below are some of these ‘you’ issues that may need addressing:

  • Inconsistent in the actions you need to be taking

  • Failing to schedule the right activities in your calendar and follow through with them

  • Lack of belief in your strategy so you don’t give it your all or give it the time it deserves to produce the results - and therefore you blame the strategy when really it was you

  • You’re afraid to put yourself out there

  • Lack of confidence

  • Slow to follow up because you become ‘busy’ with other tasks

The ‘you’ issues could be very personal and individual to you, so reflect back on your time in business so far and what your own struggles could have been.

Also, remember these powerful statements:

  • The way you do one thing is the way you do everything - take note of this when you think about what isn’t working

  • If you don’t like the results ask better questions - don’t throw your strategy out the door, tweak and test like your life depends on it!

Through my time and investments in business I’ve noted there are many moving parts that dictate our success but the STRATEGY and YOU components are what it really comes down to.
